Quorum Technologies and the University of Toronto will be hosting a one-day Symposium and Workshop on March 8 centered around Artery-On-A-Chip, a microfluidic platform invented at the University of Toronto that allows investigation of isolated resistance arteries that play a key role in several cardiovascular diseases. The platform allows for acute and long-term study of artery function in a physiological microenvironment, is scalable, easy to use, inexpensive and has the potential for automation and standardization. The device is expected to find widespread applications in microvascular research, screening of cardiovascular drug candidates in Pharma, and ultimately as a clinical test in personalized medicine to optimize drug therapy of cardiovascular patients.
