Materials Chemistry Poster Symposium 2023
As one of the Â鶹AV’s Materials Chemistry Community flagship events, the Materials Chemistry Poster Symposium took place on 3 November 2023 at Burlington House. Providing PhD students and early career researchers an opportunity to showcase their research and network will fellow students, industrial chemists and leading academics.
This year competition was fierce, with 38 posters being presented from 73 submissions. During the day the breadth of materials chemistry was presented through flash presentations and posters.
Our judging panel highlights the variety shown across the posters, with attendees from all over the UK and the world.
Congratulations to our Prize Winners!
Our judging panel praised the quality and breadth of chemistry presented.
Congratulations to our winners, scoring the highest amongst our judges and both receiving free registration to the 17th International Conference on Materials Chemistry (MC17), taking place in 2025:
- Carla Albenga, University of Warwick
- Alexander Harrison, University of Cambridge
Congratulations to our participants prize winner, voted for by attendees at the Poster Symposium:
- Ikechukwu David Nwosu University of Manchester
Ikechukwu received a book token, sponsored by the Journal of Materials Chemistry.
Supporting the careers of Early Career Researchers
Throughout the day students had the opportunity to book a one-to-one career consultation with Â鶹AV Career & Professional Development Adviser, Robert Bowles, to support their career development and get specialised support for their next steps. Students readily took part in the opportunity, with all career consultations booked on the day.
During the afternoon session, the event included a Career Panel discussion, where invited speakers from across the materials sciences provided insight into their career development and students could ask questions of the panel. There were engaging discussions on learning from failure, differences and similarities between academia and industry and perceptions of job roles across materials chemistry.
