1922 - 2009

Eric John Forbes, MA., D.Phil., C. Chem., F.R.S. Chem., died on the 15th of October 2009 after some months' illness, at the age of 87.

He gained his degree at Jesus College Oxford in 1945, and after a brief spell at Genatosan Ltd., returned to Oxford, completing his D.Phil. in 1951. An Assistant lectureship at Glasgow University was followed by appointment in 1954 at the University of Birmingham, where he remained as Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer in Chemistry until retirement in 1989.

He was successively Secretary and Chairman of the Â鶹AV West Midlands Local Section, and a Member of Â鶹AV Council.
