Afternoon visit to National Fruit Collection

11 October 2008, Faversham, United Kingdom

Introduction
The National Fruit Collection is situated outside of Faversham just 1 mile from Junction 6 of the M2, and is the world's largest collection of fruit trees and plants. The Collection consists of over 2,300 different varieties of apple, 550 of pear, 350 of plum, 320 of cherry as well as bush fruits, nuts and grapes. Our visit is timed to take place during the harvest season, and includes a guided tour of the orchards where we should be able to taste some of the fruit.

Ample free parking is provided on site. The farm is signposted from the A2 at Faversham. Directions can be found at http://www.brogdalecollections.co.uk

Thanks to a generous subsidy from our Committee, we are able to offer this trip at £5.00 per head, including tea & coffee.
